Posted - Mar 30 2001 : 1:13:16 PM Lately in my area there have been several news reports and newspaper articles on spudguns. Some saying that they are dangerous and illegal. There have also been some kids charged in a town not far from where I live. There was a fairly large news story on it, and the officer on the news even refused to show how the gun is constructed for fear others would build them.
I also have some newspaper articles to scan and put on the website. I am working on getting a copy of the news report to post on my site too...

Posted - Mar 31 2001 : 4:03:17 PM I think the problem was also the town they were in. It is much smaller then London (where I live). London is just too big for people to care.
I will be posting the article within the next few days. It isn't really ver big though. I am also trying to get the news report.

Posted - Mar 31 2001 : 03:04:04 AM I've seen numerous articles regarding the safety and legality of spudguns. In the US, potato guns aren't illegal (ref ATF) unless used in a threatening manner - i.e. don't point them at anyone, don't use metal projectiles, etc. Safety is the responsibility of the builder. Here, school children are found in possession of FIREARMS almost daily. Surely, the use of a spudgun cannot br equated with the use of a firearm. Please post the articles if you have a chance, I am very inerested in the details.
