Hey folks!

My buddy just told me that he has a Trojan virus on his computer. I'm not up on the whole virus thing. Would anybody mind letting me (us) know the best way to get rid of this virus? My buddy says he ran the virus scanner program that is supposed to eliminate the virus. He says that he doesn't think that the program got rid of the virus, because his computer is running really slow. Any suggestions? Thanks a million!

Merry Christmas!

Uh, what kind of trojan? There are thousands. Without knowing which one it is specifically, no advice can be given since they are all different...Try searching the name of the trojan at http://security.symantec.com . They generally have good instructions.

Have him make sure that his virus definitions are up to date. Start Windows up in safe mode and run a full system scan. That should bring up any virus on his comp.

The virus scanning program should have gotten rid of it. use control alt delete to see what is running, if anything unusual is running
