Posted - Dec 20 2003 : 11:41:19 AM We put up a few outside christmas lights at xmas, we are building up the amount we have year after year, but at the moment the display is fairly modest, just a few trees with lights in them.
Anyway a couple of days ago some carol signers (not sure if carol signing happens in us and canada, but it does in england, where I am) came to the door, they were 12 - 13 year old boys more interested in the money making part of it rather than the singing, they didn't even start singing until we opened the door (they knocked on the door). anyway they were told that we did not have any change in the house to give to them, the next night I notice that one tree is out, the bastards had grabbed the lights and ripped some of them off the tree, breaking a bulb and separating a connector in the process (also snapped a clip off it), I just can't beileve that anyone could sink to such a low

Posted - Jul 29 2005 : 11:01:44 PM Earlier today, someone apparently fed a dog we are taking care of something with a fish hook in it, which soon ended up stuck in the dog's throat. Then, while the owner and my mother were bringing the dog to a vet, they were hit by a drunk driver. There are some people out there who IMO just need to be shot. Drunk drivers and included on that list.
Luckily no one was hurt badly, although Mom is still getting checked out at the hospital.

Posted - Jul 22 2005 : 12:07:35 AM If the world were to be given an enima my town is where'd they stick the pipe.it looks nice on the surface but anyone who grew up here know how crappy it is. I've had everything from motorcycles to pencil sharpeners stolen it's really quite sad. but to be honest I really don't think tv thats doing it. it's tv replacing parents that is. nobody spends time with there kids anymore once they heasd off to school both parents get jobs and where's the family ya know. and don't get me started on vandles. Just because they can't create they take pride in what they can destroy and consider it good work. maybe I can do some good work with my 7mm remmington.

Posted - Jul 03 2005 : 01:45:05 AM I just don't understand vandals. They destroy what means so much to others. Sure it could have been a five minute job, or it could have been lovingly hand painstakingly created. They don't understand the hurt that they generate. I just don't understand how they could do it? I just don't get it.......

Posted - Jun 29 2005 : 11:00:02 PM People have no respect for others property in college...It seems to get worse as you get older. In one semester my bike was stolen and my camaro was also broken into and the system and half of my clothes were stolen. Both were locked at the time of theft... Besides that that same car has also been hit by uninsured drivers and vandalized by girls I wouldn't date, talk about a bad luck charm!

Posted - Jun 07 2005 : 06:12:09 AM The schools idea of hacking is opening a DOS window? Phh. Zargham Khan, a year 9 student at my school, stole our IT Manager guy's user password and deleted every folder, file and program from his user. Funnily enough, that guy doesnt work here anymore.

Posted - Mar 15 2004 : 12:22:19 PM I was fortunate in that my comp teacher had a bit of a clue. He was still behind the best students in the class, but as long as you did the required work and didn't do anything that screwed stuff up perminantly, he'd just let us do our thing.

She should get out of that office of hers and take a look what kind of crap is going on in the school. people are smoking inside the school, traficing drugs, vandalism etc.
Couldn't have said it better...Stop trying to "enforce" something you have no hope of understanding, and instead deal with real problems...

Sorry about you school dillema Epsilon!, I think it is due to peoples fear of the unknown. She doesnt know very much about the computers and is probably intimidated by anyone that does have that knowidge. Since she doesnt know what is possible with that information, she just tries to condemn it instead of learinig and figuring out how harmless it was. Or something like that.

Posted - Mar 13 2004 : 10:01:26 PM It's been my experience that academic administrative people are often crazy or a little burnt out. They are doing a job that most other people in the academic community have little or no interest in. Most researchers prefer to be holed up in the lab or off on conferences, and couldn't give a rat's ass about paperwork or running a lab or whatever. I've ran into entire departments that were hamstrung by people in key administrative positions who were just evil or inept or both. Scott Adam's 'CatBert' character is sometimes not too far off from reality...
