Posted - Jul 18 2007 : 01:03:15 AM Hi I have a Uniden PC66XL CB radio. It worked fine before tonight. When I went to hook it up back in my truck I accendently thought the mic port was the antenna port and touched the antenna probe to one of the conductors. It made a fairly loud staticy noise and I quickly withdrew the cable. When I hooked everything up right I get no sound. I think I messed up the audio amp or circut. When I turn up the volume all the way and put my ear close. I can hear the normal static. Please help.

Most amp designs have caps at the input and output to block DC bias voltages from reaching the device being plugged into it but it also serves a purpose of protecting the audio circuit in the case of an accidental miss wiring. Open it up and find the cap nearest the speaker. I would hope that could be all that is wrong with it. It might be more but that would be my first guess! let me know how it goes
