I am learning basic electronics; in your 7 segment LED counter schematic U1 pin 14 you have the shcematic "count in" what exactly does this mean? Is from a (pushbutton) switch, DIP switches or 555 timer? Did I happen to mention that i'm new to electronics and schematics? just needing a little help.

So, it's safe to say experimenting with a 555 timer in astable is fine to use with the 7 Segment LED counter schemtic?
