I see that 'phones and seekic are slowly filling the pages of this section.

Soon there will be no basic topics left!

Several questions here that need answering.

First, I'm sorry about the spam. It's been a busy couple of days and I've been unable to check the forum. I've deleted all the spam a few minutes ago, and the spam accounts have been closed and marked as spammers.

Second, the phones sold by the spam companies either don't exist or are a different model then the one advertised. You'd send your money for a brand new Blackberry 9000, but when you receive the box it would be an old Motorola. The main purpose of these companies is to steal your credit details, not make money or sell phones. However, people want to buy their own phone because the ones sold by the phone company are locked and will only work on that network. Some people who move around and travel alot prefer unlocked phones and sometimes it is hard to get the carrier to unlock the phone.

Third, there are basic spam controls on this forum which stop robots from posting. So it actually is a human behind the posts. They are not really interested in getting people to visit the site via the link, but are concerned with using the search ranking of this forum to connect the keywords in their links to the pages they point to. They belong to pyramid-style marketing schemes and get affiliate payments for links to the sites.

Banning IPs does no good as they just switch. The spammers employ cheap overseas labour to do their business. Rooms of children and poor people sitting beside donated computers (from our part of the world) just fill the Internet with spam.

Yes. There are several usernames all using the same IP address for Seekic, so it's probably just one individual. The datasheets they give that I have looked at give barebones information and a list of companies where you can get the items in bulk - but no prices.

They are a waste of space and have been banned from at least one of the other forums.

Is Seekit another Chinese SPAM company? They should be nuked.

Why would anybody buy a phone from the internet (send your money and receive nothing) when phone companies give away good phones for free?
