i hev been surfing this website which i found very interesting,i am a student compiling a project of my own which i will have to present at school.im searching for a circuit that can be able to detect when the lamp has failed e.g street lamp, and it must report to the in station that there is a lamp failure so i thought of using modems to send messages to the in station, i thought of builing a 12V DC power supply reason ,im a 3rd year technikon student please if u hev any better ideas kindly email me

Not sure about the circuit to tell if the light is out.. Maybe a photo cell? When I was a kid I made a dam in a river and when the water got up to the top of dam it would sound an alarm. I use an oscillator and a little radio circuit. It only worked to about 15 feet but it gave an audible alarm. The only problem is that I was standing in the rain to hear it. That might be an idea for you.
