I need a schematic for a shift light. Cant seem to find it on google. Basically it should operate in the following way:

Take input from CDI or the spark cable n when a certain rpm is reached light up an LED or something. Also i need it to be programmable. PLZ HELP

It's not that hard to make. My first thought is to just buy one as they are not really that expensive. By the time you make one the commercial $40 shift lights are starting to look good since they come with a case, warranty, instructions, etc.

If you want to start from scratch, you will need a frequency to voltage converter IC and then an op-amp configured as a comparator. Likely some input logic to filter the signal (maybe an opto isolator) as well.
