Posted - Mar 09 2006 : 12:34:35 AM I need a schematic for a shift light. Cant seem to find it on google. Basically it should operate in the following way:
Take input from CDI or the spark cable n when a certain rpm is reached light up an LED or something. Also i need it to be programmable. PLZ HELP

Posted - Mar 09 2006 : 10:23:53 AM It's not that hard to make. My first thought is to just buy one as they are not really that expensive. By the time you make one the commercial $40 shift lights are starting to look good since they come with a case, warranty, instructions, etc.
If you want to start from scratch, you will need a frequency to voltage converter IC and then an op-amp configured as a comparator. Likely some input logic to filter the signal (maybe an opto isolator) as well.
