I wanted to find out if anyone has ever done a remote start on a volkswagen Passat 2004. Someone told me it required a special circuit.

If the neutral safety switch is bad, then the car can lurch forward or backwards on startup (if left in gear). Also, an idling and unattended car is dangerous for other, more obvious reasons (ie. curious neighbourhood kids).

Aaron,

Whay are they dangerous, I didnt know that. I just wanted to be able too cool the car down here in the summer before I put my daughter in.

Can you be more specific because I know nothing about them.

Thanks

Tried a Volkswagen forum?

(Personally, I am against remote starters for several important reasons. They're dangerous, they waste enormous amounts of gas, and they pollute. Not to mention that most areas have anti-idling laws that you are breaking).
