hi, can anyone help me how to utilize the use of a printer port for my project.. my finger print scanner is connected to a PC via USB. and is processed by a visual basic program. my output is the electronic lock via printer port but I have problems how to configure the parallel port to act correctly to the door lock.. any help, suggestions.. please help me

yes.. it is hard to do without a PC.. the theme is that the biometric finger print scanner (it is what the device is called back here) is directly connected to the electronic door lock.. and is controlled by a microcontroller.. instead of using the numeric keypad we would like to replace it with a biometric finger print scanner.. thanks again for your reply.. maybe you can give me some idea on how to work with this project.. salamat!!(its thank you in Tagalog)..

What fingerprint scanner? Microcontroller? Based on your initial description, it doesn't look like it's easily done without a PC.

Well, thanks for the reply.. but our dean rejects the project. the project is really a thesis. He wants the finger print scanner to be directly connected to the electronic lock and not PC based.. can you help me with the design and the schematics of my project.. thank you very much.. hoping for your reply again..
