I just wanted to say that i think that you did a spectacular job on your rx-7...I have printed off the whole little book you wrote on the Almost guide to your masda, and i just wanted to tell you that i will be doing the same thing to mine...I baught a 87 n/a and it is a fun car to drive but like you i want more......I used to have a 99 mitsubishi eclipse gsx(awd turbo) and thats what i have owned for the past 4 years o i am used to about 15lbs of boost, and i lost the car in january because i got in to much trouble with it so i had to sell..Now i have my liscense back and i can not find another gsx for sale in a reasonable price so i came across this 87 masda rx-7 non turbo, and believe it or not but the guy that owned it was a dork and he let it sit in his back lot for as long as i can remember and he is sold it to me for 400 bucks and there is nothing wrong with it except for this plastic peice that is broke on the ignition switch,50 dollars from autozone and she's fixed..Well any way she starts up with no problems and she runs even stronger and i am going to perform the custom turbo install in about a week or so.I am going to be using this IHI turbo out of a 89 probe and a bov from a 1g eclipse(they hold a lot of boost and they sound even sweeter,i know need to find me a safc and a few other things,i have almost about everything i need but if now then im sure i will be baking lots of trips to home depot and ording things from ebay(i love that place)..for the past month or so i have read lots of books and lots of articles on the net to try and best understand the ratary engine since this is my first, and by now i am sure that you are wondering when i am done with my little book of mine and i want to know what are you thaughts on this project and if they are good what kind of advice can you give me to make my expierence with this a little easier that yours, thank you and i hope to hear from you soon............Josh

If you head over to http:///www.rx-7club.com, go into the 2nd Gen Forum and then read the FAQ, it should be able to answer you questions. It's a very common question and it's well covered there.

ok i have been thinking and i had a night or 2 to think about this and alot of looking on ebay and i came across the decision to just replace the motor with a 13bT motor and i want to know how long and how difficult would it be to swap out the n/a with the turbo engine???Is there any way that the 3gen twin turbo engine would even come close to bolting up,because if i am going to do the swap then why not the 13bTT engine instead,if it even comes close that is,or i should just stay ith the 2gen turbo engine and make it a little easier on me and my wallet????

I don't know anything about that turbo and a Google search isn't turning up much useful information. Do you have any specs as there seems to be a lot of versions of that turbo.

The main thing is that if it has a small hotside, it will choke the rotary much more then a piston engine. You're going to want .90 or higher, to about 1.0 at the MAX on a stock engine.

If thats to small what about the 16g turbo from the Mitsubishi Evo,it supports 380-400hp and delivers 550cfm,thats a lot better i would think.I have this turbo that i was going to put in my eclipse but i sold it,i tried finding the t11 turbo on ebay but no luck, but the cool thing about this turbo is that its brand new and never used.....

That turbo is way too small. The stock turbo on the TII is about the smallest you would want to run, and it's a large T3 style with a .89 hot side (if I remember correctly).
