I have the chance to turbo my N/A using all turbo parts from a TII, but before even considering this, I wanted to talk to you to find out some information/ask some questions. I have read through your site, but I still have some questions before I start to do this. The story is, my friend has a TII with a blown motor, but everything else is good. He will sell me the entire car for 500 dollars, which means i can also use the TII tranny, rear end, etc. So I will have the manifold, turbo, oil lines, intercooler, etc. from a stock TII. I am planning on modifying the stock TII intercooler to use as a FMIC setup though. I will be doing all the work my self. Heres some questions I have though. Your help would be greatly appreciated. My car is a s5, not an s4, so can I still do the turbo setup with the higher compression rotors? Will the TII injectors, fuel pump and a S-AFC be enough for fuel supply? Is it easier to use the N/A manifolds with a spacer, or modify the TII manifolds and use them? Will the motor be reliable as a daily driver, because I do use my 7 as a daily driver. Approximately how much do you think this will cost? Keep in mind I will have EVERYTHING (engine wise) that I need for only 500 dollars. That means, what other costs do you think there will be, S-AFC, etc? Is there anything else that you recommend that I should replace/upgrade? Thank you for your time, I greatly appreciate it. Nate

Posted - Nov 04 2004 : 9:03:45 PM Hey Aaron, thanks for the answers. Yea, I am gonna go through with this and turbo my N/A. I found out that the guy doesnt have the full turbo motor, just the housings, so rebuilding the turbo motor is kinda out of the question. Thank you for your help.

Why not just rebuild the TII engine and swap it into your NA? Since you have ALL the TII parts...

Sure, but it's going to be even more twitchey to tune.

Up to about 8 PSI, yes.

Probably easier to modify the TII manifolds, if you have all the TII parts already available.

Maybe. Depends on your mechanical ability, tuning ability, and how much you abuse it.

No idea. Depends on how much you have to oursource, etc. But since you have the entire TII car available, probably not more then $500 or so.

Depends on your goals. I think you'll be best served by rebuilding the TII engine and doing a "proper" swap. Especially based on the questions you are asking.

You can use the TII manifolds if you port match them to the NA block.

Posted - Nov 02 2004 : 6:49:51 PM Hey my name is Joe. I am tempting to do the same thing. I can answer some of these, The S AFC is about 400.00 , You will not be able to use the turbo 2 intake manifolds, You will nee to use the n.a manifolds. I have a friend making a spacer for the turbo at his machine shop. Oil and coolant lines are going to have tio be fabricated, using brake line or whatever . I have estimated at least 600 to 700 just to turbo my 91 N.A. I will also only run race gas because of the high compression rotor. I dont want to take any chances of detonation. Aaron has a step by step walkthrough of his N.A on this site. My e mail is on my profile if you have any questions.
