Posted - Mar 24 2004 : 12:36:22 PM i am in the planning process of turboing my gxl, and i was hoping to get some feedback on some things.
1. i was planning on using an s4 turbo upper intake mounted on a 6 port lower intake, so that i can use a greddy fmic. is this feasable?
2. i already have a down pipe for a turbo can i use it?
3. can i use a turbo front cover instead of tapping the na one for the oil return? and also, how would i go about running the feed line? anything swappable from a turbo to make it easier? how does the turbo get it's supply on a tII?
4.i will be going w/ a microtech from day 1, with a walbro 255, and probably two 550's in the primaries, 680's in the secondaries. is that enough fuel for 10psi?
5. fuel cut defenser will i still need this with a microtech?
that's all i can think of for now. sorry for the length.
thanks in advance

Nope. While the upper could be ported to match the lower, it just doesn't physically fit. The NA lower intake sits much too close to the block. Also, the NA has it's secondary injectors on the upper intake, on the TII they are on the lower. So you would need to custom make fittings for the injectors.

Maybe...3" pipes don't clear the firewall (in my experience), but 2.5" should be fine.

If you want, but a front cover job is a MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS with the engine in the car. You also risk destroying the engine if you mess up the torrington bearings.

Get it from the oil cooler, or use a T fitting at the oil pressure sensor.

Nope.

The TII has a tap on the front iron at the dowl. The oil feed line connects via a banjo bolt.

Yes. You are aware with what's involved in programming a standalone EMS system, right?

Hm, based on this question, I can assume the answer to question "4" is a "no". No, the FCD is not required.
Standard disclaimer: It really sounds like you don't have the baseline knowledge to pull off this conversion. There have been MANY people who have asked me for massive amounts of help, then blown there engine shortly after completion. I would suggest you wait until you have some more experience before you tackle this project.
