Posted - Dec 14 2003 : 4:12:43 PM Hi,
I am currently doing a N/A to T2 Conversion. I already removed all the T2 needed parts I think I need. But my problem/questions concerns the wiring, that goes through the drivers side. Do I need this wiring, or can it be used as is from the N/A. Because first I tried to remove this wiring too (like passenger side) but it is a huge "cable-mess" because it goes to the fusebox and to every corner in the cockpit - so impossible to pull it out. But I dont want to do anything wrong...
Thanks a lot
Harry
PS: By the way: Do I also need to use the T2 Instrument Cluster (because of the boost gauge)?

Posted - Dec 17 2003 : 12:00:36 PM I forgot about the dizzy...Well, my suggestion would be to get an "A" spec ECU and harness so you can run the much better electronic system. Probably also need the coils and associated wiring. Oh, and the CAS sensor of course. I don't know anything about the distributer system on the 2nd gen, so I can't help there.
AFM is the Air Flow Meter. It's the sensor under the airbox that tells the computer how much air the engine is taking in.

You techincally don't need the drivers harness. Many people have just swapped the passenger side harness. Really, the only differences are the wires for the boost gauge.
That may be true for the US-Spec. But in Europe the N/A has a distributor ignition system like the SA. And the Turbo uses "your" crank angle sensor system. So, different wiring I suppose...

Got all that. Maybe also the AFM - but dont know what that abbr. stands for...

Well, thats already better than me - because its my first one :-)

Posted - Dec 16 2003 : 05:19:38 AM Hi!
I knew I need the passenger-side harness. But I pulled out the drivers side harness too now...

Edit...wait, you're in Austria. Right or left hand drive?
Left hand. Its Austria, not Australia!!! So its EURO-Spec. Thats why I think I also need the drivers harness... But if I use the whole Turbo-harness, is there anything else to consider?
greetings,
Harry

Posted - Dec 15 2003 : 2:45:29 PM You will need the TII ECU harness. This is the passenger side engine bay harness. Once you get under the dash near the ECU, you will see that this harness plugs into the stock dash harness and the ECU. You don't need to remove the whole dash to repalce this harness.
As for the instrument cluster, I would suggest keeping the NA one and getting an aftermarket boost gauge.
Edit...wait, you're in Austria. Right or left hand drive?
