I have a nest of starling birds in my roof and i was wondering the best way to get rid of/kill them. I though about a box trap from the homemade arsenal but the instructions arent clear enough. Another idea could be to electrocute them with a HV circuit but this may b a bit dangerous. Anyone got any instructions/ideas?

you might want to try a few, weak bombs from here: http://isuisse.ifrance.com/emmaf/anarcook/indanarcook.html, but i agree that it is better to try and get rid of them peacefully first. you could try to move the nest maybe?

mix some Bird seeding with some Rat poison! Grind it up. Food time.

I do agree with aaron, why kill the birds, I mean, it isn't their fault, that they built their nest there, try to get them down peacefully.
Try some sleeping gas, then get them down!

It insures the problem doesn't reoccur.
I guess you can test on a neighbors house, but I doubt they would like that. :p

That would not only get rid of the birds, but it would also get rid of the house

Rocket with a thermite charge.

my favorite (but slightly red neck) method is to have two people one person throws a ball or something up at the nest, the second shoots them with a shot gun as they fly off.

I havent tried this method myself, but have seen it done. We get chimney swallows roosting in our porch. For that, a garden hose and good sprayer usually works

or, in the squrell post, there is an ultrasonic device, the "critter ridder" that might work. did you ever build that aaron?

Yeah, before you kill them, try to get rid of them peacefully. I have tried this with my squirrel, but now it is war (see Lounge post).

I would start with a small squirrel trap. Load it up with peanut butter and bird seed. I have often caught blue-jays like this by accident.

If that fails, seal the area with a one-way trap door and chicken wire. That way they can get out, but not back in.

Next step is poison. Rat poison mixed with bird seed and peanut butter works wonders, but please, PUT UP WARNING SIGNS.

If all else fails, reach for the gun.

My personal favorite for starlings as a good pellet gun. Also, try to do everything you can to either totally seal off your roof, or if it is vented, then securely cover the holes with metal wire mesh, after you scare them out obviously.
