Posted - Nov 08 2003 : 05:48:50 AM hey. i would REALLY like to build an accurate egg launcher...i have afew ideas and tried one which sucked! my other idea was to get a piece of pvc pipe inside have a piece of jelly rubber and a plunger or a funnel stuck to the rubber, pull back the rubber/funnel(or plunger) with your ammo in it and let go, the pipe will make it accurate.
what are your thoughts/suggestions on this?

Posted - Nov 10 2003 : 11:09:54 PM well, the rubber idea has much less power, i would be suprised if it could be used one person with reasonable accuracy and low velocity. a potato gun is exponentially more powerfull and accurate.plus, it requires alot less force to use. look at aaron's potato gun page. he has a smal potato gun, the "noisy cricket". aarons site is a peice of Cake! (pun intended)

why is that? i dont see anyhting wrong with my plans
I'm just saying, the mini spud gun will most definately go farther and be more accurate.

what do u think???
I think you'd be better off going with a mini spud gun.

Posted - Nov 09 2003 : 6:45:58 PM well here is my plan of the egg laucnher, get a pice of pvc and make the diameter pretty big. have a bit of rubber stuck on each side of the pipe to make a loop, attatch a pluncher or a funnel to the loop. make sure the loop is in the inside of the pvs pipe. put ur arm through the end of the pipe to grab the cone or plunger and pull it back so it just pops out of the end on the pipe, it should be being pulled just about as hard as it can be then load ur ammo in and let go...it will fly through the tube making it acccurate and i would think it would go far... what do u think???

Posted - Nov 09 2003 : 2:29:36 PM Well, if you dont want to build a spudgun, which would be accurate, have distance and be one-manned, you could try a water balloon launcher.

Posted - Nov 08 2003 : 11:47:27 PM thanx. but with this, i dont really want to build a spudgun... sorry if you are dissappointed.. also, i dont want it to big, i want it handheld able to fire with one person, if not, 2. and i want it to shoot pretty far, at least further than you could throw and it to be accurate... thanx alo!

Posted - Nov 08 2003 : 1:16:34 PM pnumatic guns usually have a more gradual accelleration down the length of the barrel, whereas a combustion gun puts all its power into one big oomph. I bet that pnumatic would be less likely to break it because of this, and yes, you'd want wadding. If nothing else the wadding will help clean the egg goo out of your barrel if the egg does break...

Posted - Nov 08 2003 : 12:33:26 PM pneumatics have the same chance of breaking the egg as combustion. you would have to use some sort of paper wadding(toilet paper perhaps?) so it doesn't break it, or use lower pressures

Yeah, but I think that an explosive spudgun, i.e. hairspray, might break the eggs so you should make an air powered spudder. Refer to my post in the pnuematic spud gun conference.
