I am plagued by a program that shows up as 'Toparcadehits'. I cannot find it on my hard disk to remove it.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of it?

None of those methods found the root of the problem, but Googling for 'remove toparcadehits' I found that as I use Firefox, I could access it with Ctrl/Shift/A. So I tried it and found it listed as an Extension. Easily got rid of from there.

You may be able to find it using Process Explorer:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

Download, unzip and run. If you can find the "toparcadehits" process, right click and you can get the file location. Then you may be able to boot into Safe Mode and delete it.

If not, you'll need to put the HD in another computer and delete the file. Or, boot to a Linux boot CD (I like Parted Magic) and delete the file. Another option is to download Windows Defender Offline ( http://blogs.technet.com/b/security/archive/2012/09/19/microsoft-s-free-security-tools-windows-defender-offline.aspx ), create the boot CD, and then scan the system using that CD.
