Posted - Jul 04 2010 : 07:25:57 AM I built this table with my Dad out of 2 sheets of metal and bits that were lying around (anyone who tells me what they're from gets a cookie (should be easy for readers of this forum))

With the pot mounting secured the air cooler still fits - just. Works suprisingly well when not bolted down too Just have to be careful not to knock it.

Posted - Jul 05 2010 : 3:26:27 PM So it's possible my RAM is still alive but here is the ripple on vdimm. Measureing 1.975v on a DMM.
That's 200mv/div :O |

Posted - Jul 05 2010 : 10:23:34 AM So the commando I have decided to kill a stick of RAM. I don't think I want it anymore :/
Anyway, Super Pi 32M comp is being run http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/overclocking/33554-super-pi-32m-challenge.html. Max CPU speed is 4GHz.
Aaron, I wondered if you could change my username here to ARandomOWl? Cheers. |

Posted - Jul 04 2010 : 11:26:57 AM Will do. I've got 25kg of DICE coming sometime next week. Got 6 or 7 S775 chips to bench. |

Posted - Jul 04 2010 : 11:02:55 AM Yeah if it's not too much of a bother post the results here. |

Posted - Jul 04 2010 : 10:48:34 AM I'll post some results up here if you're interested. I didn't start making that unit specifically for this board, but I planned to incorporate it into the table. Although I think I might just stick to a DMM now. |

Posted - Jul 04 2010 : 10:34:57 AM Cool. Do you plan on posting the results here? Is this the board you made the temperature and VCORE measuring circuit for? |

Posted - Jul 04 2010 : 09:58:32 AM So is this just an experiment or will you be feeding her dry-ice for as long is she runs? |

Posted - Jul 04 2010 : 09:10:15 AM Big heatsink? No. I wouldn't say it was big lol. Maybe it just looks big in the pic.
Both fridge and peltier have been tried before (not by me personally). Neither really work. Hence the pot for dry ice / LN2 that you can see to the right of the table in the third pic. |

Posted - Jul 04 2010 : 08:43:31 AM That's one "hugemongus" heatsink. Why not put the whole computer inside a fridge?
Has anyone done that before? Some fridges have anti-frost as well, good to prevent that troublesome condensation.
My CPU idles at about 27-28C but when I sandwiched a small Peltier device between the heatsink and CPU I got to around 19C. However since this was a low power Peltier device it could not transfer heat as quickly or quicker than the CPU was producing it under load. It was a good experiment but the thermal conduction between CPU and heatsink was greater than the Peltier's over a wider temperature range. |
