Posted - May 26 2011 : 7:15:19 PM Audioguru and all, a little headache here:
I noticed that majority of the digital multimeters do not read rectified voltages accurately, except maybe when used on load. reading without a load to the rectified dc givesa strange readings. It is a different case with DCs from batteries. DC voltages read out exactly their ratings when new.
I did a rectified DC from a 24vac transformer output using two diodes and two capacitors. The configuraition is of voltage doubler circuit. What could be the true nature of the voltage value? Diode, 1N4007 Capacitors 470uF each
meter reeading on load = 23.5v meter reading on no load = 30.2v

Posted - Jun 01 2011 : 9:48:23 PM Ok, Aaron, thanks for your reply. I was hoping you were not going to have time to reply. Your reply shows you have been doing much on this. Thanks again.
You see, most People read all these religious books as if they are reading novels. At the end they draw their own wrong interpretations. There is something completely different from your idea of zombie and the death of Christ. His was not mere physical death. He went on a redeemption work for the captives. He was about this even as people mourned. (You are not compelled to understand this anyway). Concerning His death on the cross and His resurrection, a lot of people clearly do not understand what really happened. He was not dead, and being God was able to conquer the power of death. I do not wish to trouble you with this. It could appear ridiculous to you.
A zombie, as people argue, is brought back to life using charms or whatever. His task He completed and came back to His people on the third day.
You mentioned something about blood and flesh. Christians are no cannibals. The Holy communion is wine and bread, representing his suffering.
'As we eat the bread, we remember the body that was broken by nails, His splintered flesh. As we drink of the cup, we remember the blood that poured from His wounds. We not only remember His suffering. We proclaim the eternal life in heaven the Lord Jesus Christ prepared for us through His death and resurrection.
Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in Me, and I in him. (Jn 6:53-56)
It represents the completeness of His sacrifice—He gave us His all; His life. Through the Holy Communion, we connect with the Lord Jesus Christ not only in the memory of His death, but in the spiritual life He gives to us. By receiving the spiritual flesh and blood, Christ lives in us and we in Him. Only with the life of Christ in us can we have eternal life and resurrect on the last day. Therefore, all believers of Christ must partake of the Holy Communion' (I lost the link to this)
do not worry yourself about the stuff above.
Creationism is not a way out from the challenges of life. A Christian is instructed to subdue his environment.
Gen1:28. God has done his part. You only revere over His handwork. How does a baby grow in the body of the mother? A question might arise 'God made it that way' Yes - but NO: you are expected to apply the knowledge given to you by God. Though a mortal mind would not get it all perfect. Mentioning creation does not imply that Christians all over the world stop along the way and do no more. You study your environment. He is not partial to a non-believer.
What I am concerned with is the truth about design. Anyone can help me answer Rational's question (the new member). To add to her question, Why are a male and a female not having the same strength and why are sexual urges in them quite different? Consider the need for potential difference. The higher the difference the higher the agreement. Does it not point out design by the designer?
Finally, for miracles, they are true. Europe has never left the religion they brought to Africa. A Christian could need medication. It is scriptural. A person who does not believe fails to realise that he or she is even religious for believing that he or she does not believe. |

I was at a car and air show, as mentioned. As I was exhibiting two of my vehicles I could not sneak away for Internet time. And at the end of the day I was so tired upon getting back to the hotel that I just had a nice glass of wine and went to sleep.
quote:
For your so-called 'zombie' that rose on the 3rd day, what would you call his followers? What would you call the People who testify him. I can't wait for a reply.
There is no "so-called" here. By very definition, the resurrected Jesus is a zombie.
What I think about followers of religion depends totally on the actions of that person and the circumstances surrounding why religion was brought up. It could range from not caring in the least, to wanting to see that person reprocessed chemically into something more useful. For example: for your average church person I don't care in the least. For someone like Ted Haggard, he would serve the world in a far more useful way if he was rendered down into trace elements and oil.
To pull two examples from this thread....
When someone says that because they don't know how an atom is made it leads them to creationism, I think "Huh?". I don't mean to be insulting, but we learned the Planetary model of the atom in early elementary school. And then in 1st year high school, we learned how that model is flawed and how an atom is really constructed. Any grade 9 physics or chemistry text book will explain in great detail the better Bohr model of the atom. Then will go into how the electrons are always exchanging orbits, Heisenberg, etc. Oh, but maybe the question relates to how the elements are made? Turn a few more pages in that text book and it will explain that elements are made via nuclear fusion in stars. Read about it here. We can replicate fusion in the lab quite easily now.
Another great example is when someone says they have seen an AIDS patient cured through a miracle/prayer. I then ask:
-How were they diagnosed with AIDS? In North America it's a simple blood test available at any corner lab. Results in two weeks.
-How was the cure diagnosed? A blood test?
-Is it not just remission from the symptoms which is common in disease?
See in North America, even those who pray for a cure, will generally go to a hospital. I don't know what it's like in Nigeria, but I think you would be flat out shocked at our level of medical technology. For example, if someone in Nigeria loses an ear (say, dog attack), well that's basically it. They go through life with one ear. If I were to lose an ear in a dog attack, I'd go to the hospital and they would grow me a new one in a lab and install it when ready.
I think it is very difficult for two cultures with such differences to see eye to eye regarding religion and superstition.
Really, I feel that people can believe whatever they want as long as it does not negatively effect my life. However nothing is ever above scrutiny and examination. And since belief in a deity is responsible for so much negativity in the world, then above all else it is demanded that it be scrutinized and examined down to the very core. |

Posted - May 30 2011 : 5:16:42 PM Wow, I wish I had been around this past weekend to see this topic.
I was at the Wings and Wheels Heritage Festival (for some reason their site is secure) all weekend and really didn't bother much with Internet related things.
Really at this point I can't contribute anything more but AOL style "Me too!" posts. But I will say this.
I was raised Roman Catholic. I am not, however, Roman Catholic now and really never was because it was always just a superstition for me. I'd stand around for an hour in church every Sunday thinking about building stuff. Now, I have recognized the one true god and I pray only to His Noodlyness. I hope that everyone can have the experience of his truth and be touched by his Noodly Appendage. The Flying Spaghetti Monster is more real than every other false god which came before Him and will occur afterwards. Just this past Saturday I was able to bask in all his sauceness as I was able to consume my God (marinara sauce, 4 meatballs and topped with parmesan) knowing that the glory of the FSM is real, physical and will become one with even my own body by His given miracle of digestion.
OK, I'll add one more thing...Let's say that I believed sincerely in the tooth fairy. And that I spent a good amount of time collecting teeth (uh, how? Maybe I hang out behind the dentist office...the exact mechanism is unimportant). Then every night I put them under my pillow, knowing that next morning I will wake up to being just a little bit richer. Of course, the money never arrives and instead all that ends up under my pillow is an ever growing pile of discarded molars. But I steadfastly stick to my belief and defend it. After all, the Tooth Fairy is documented in books, movie, TV, popular culture and we even tell our children of the fantastic ways of the Tooth Fairy. I insist that beyond all doubt the Tooth Fairy is real and that one day, her truth will be revealed and I'll end up with a mountain of cash! You'd say I was batshit insane.
Yet if I told you I believed in a god-human hybrid that was sent to Earth by his father, then killed by us and buried. Then three days later he lived again as a zombie to spread his word that he died for our sins. And in order to maintain this, I must eat his flesh and drink his blood every Sunday....What would you call me then? A good Catholic! And this is something believed by 1.1 billion people in this world. Take the blood drinking and flesh eating out of it and you're now at 2.26 billion.
Oh, and one more sidebar. Anyone who says that their own religion is the one true religion (excluding the FSM of course, which is the one true religion) needs to pull their head out of their ass. Christianity in particular is predated by countless other faiths. One of those of course, is Paganism, from which Christianity borrows most of it's stuff. Oh yeah, and Christianity only starts at about 32 AD, while Hinduism started at about 3,000 BC. Hinduism is also cooler because while Christianity has a cosmic magic zombie, Hindu makes everyone a zombie through transmigration! |

Okay here is Sicode's REMOVED message, sorry about the HTML tags: quote:
Wasssup, you do not end amazing me. Well, you will do great if you become part of Hollywood, because you will do well in their comic department. You are way too hilarious. Yet I could see brashness in your interior. <br />One point; you affirmed you are an atheism. You do not really know what that means. You do not want to be - and do not really want to. <br />You are a hypocrite, wasssup, because you do not know what atheism is. If you must be a true etheist, then some people could prefer a terrorist. I have known quite a few and had been under few. I had a lecturer who is one. <br />Let me tell you what that is involved: if you are an etheist, then you can never have a religious wife, children. One of them, an etheist, killed the wife who professed Christ. You won't leave close to a neighbour who is a religious person. If you are a person in authority you need duress to dissuade the people under you...make them believe what you believe. To make it short, you must be ready to kill. I know people who were involved in this and the government intervened drastically, taking brutal measures to stop their violence and extremity. <br />Maybe you are in an environment where you become one by merely saying it. You can't listen to a christian lecturer or a religious man, you won't sit near one in a class. So are you an etheist by mouth or commitment? I have written few of what these people are.<br />China is a great country and a great percentage are religious and powerful scientists, india similarly. There are great religious people in America who are scientist. They are no failures (in response to what you said: that these religious people have a lower place in the world).<br />For you to be an etheist you must not be a one-sided one. You must read their religious books and then attack the religious ones from the books, pointing out their 'foolishness' (if you can prove one). You said you can count the number of times you entered a church. Probably you have not seen a bible before. So how can you call yourself an etheist? This is why you are funny and brash.<br />You could end up like Paul of the apostle (Acts 9). One of the most despicable etheist in my area today discovered and could prove God. People were shocked. His divine transformation affected alot of them who in tears and thanksgiving to God clung to God. It was a tremendous hunt for the Light. There could be these converts in your area.<br />Now concerning, Pebe and your clash with him. What Pebe sees while sitting you can't see while standing. Age is experience. I hope you know what that expression means? The dude made some points you deliberately avoided. <br />You are not an etheist by commitment, you are rather a person who does not believe in God. The 'commitment' is what that makes one one.<br />So what are you, wasssup? <br />The person you hailed is probably one for he/she joined this site just recommend you. That is the 'commitment', or he or she could be a hilarious one also who testified etheism by mere mouth.<br />Please do not be one, i advise you. It is a free word, anyway. Some people still claim terrorist are better.<br />FC Barcelona
Needless to say it's all bullshit. I have completely lost all respect for you Sicode. I suggest you leave the forum. Let this be lesson to everyone. |

Posted - May 30 2011 : 08:34:41 AM Sicode! You are an absolute coward! In-between my last two posts on the previous page you REMOVED your long and unparagraphed attack on me! I wonder if Aaron can restore that message. The action of you removing your message should at least be logged in his database.
I'm not saying that you did this Sicode but I checked the time-stamp on Rational's first post and shortly after she posted that message I received an e-mail from facebook:
quote: You recently asked to reset your Facebook password. To complete your request, please follow this link:
I reported the attempt to Facebook.
As a consequence I took down my test website which had my e-mail on one of the pages. I'm guessing someone used that e-mail in attempt to change my password on Facebook.
EDIT: Just in case Sicode deletes the two posts at the top of this page. Here they are:
