Message Preview - Spot Welding
I got this 800 watt Transformer from a microwave oven and sawed of
its secondary high voltage windings.Tied one turn no.22 to it and
got 1.1v ac,made the turns 2 and got 2.3v ac.,I'm still looking
for a really heavy gauge copper wire.800W/2.3V =347.8 Amperes wow
but i don't know if that would be enough to melt say no.14 AWG to a
thin sheet of metal?I do not have any idea about resistance welding
i mean how many volts, amperes, and dwell time.Does somebody know
of a 'site' or idea ?it would be appreciated..thanks

It looks like you are on the right track:

Seems that spot welding requires a lot more current then other methods at much lower voltage. You can probably lower the voltage to get a bit more current out of that transformer.
