My adaptor for our home security system has died and I cannot find a 11v 1.5a power supply replacement. I did find a 11v 2a power supply for a camera and wondered if the extra .5 amp would cause me any issues? I figured I could cut the adaptor plug off the end and just wire it into the old system cord.
Any ideas where to find a 11v 1.5a generic power supply. Radio Shack does not make nor have any replacement. The system is 10-15 years old but was working OK. There is no voltage coming out of the old supply.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Doug

It is odd how the adapter is such a specific voltage like that. You would think they would make it 12v in case this happens.

Is it really 11V? Not 12V?

Yes, you can use any 11V (and likely 12V) supply rated at 1.5A or greater. The circuit will only draw as much current as it needs, the supply will not "force" it to accept more.
