plz explain me the working of 6v to 12v dc converter working

Q1 and Q2 are an oscillator that turns Q3 on and off.
When Q3 is turned on it energizes the coil. When Q3 is turned off then the inductance of the coil causes the collector voltage of Q3 to go positive above the power supply voltage and it charges C3.
When the output voltage is 12V then the zener diode conducts which turns on Q4 which turns off Q3 until the output voltage drops a little.
