Posted - Aug 04 2003 : 3:00:18 PM Sorry about the downtime yesterday and early today. At around 1:30PM on Sunday, I applied some "critical updates" to the server, which promptly broke everything (webserver, remote access, etc.). After a few failed attempts at repair, I was stuck reloading the entire server. It took until nearly 2AM Monday morning to get everything back to normal. Good thing I have reliable backups. Nothing was lost except access to the site during that time period.
There may be some short down periods over the next few days as I tie up loose ends with the server. There is still some config to be done, and some software to be loaded. The Real Media server is still not up as I have not loaded it yet, so don't expect any of the videos on the site to work.
It's a little annoying, if for no other reason then the server has been running continuously since early 1996 with no software problems at all...
Read this to make sure that all the updates you've downloaded have actually installed.

Posted - Aug 05 2003 : 11:15:14 AM It was one of the Microsoft "critical" patches that has been hyped over the last few days. It could have been one of three patches.
Regardless, I will have things back to 100% in the next few days. Then, I will take a Ghost image of the server should something like this happen again.

Posted - Aug 04 2003 : 11:05:50 PM well, thats good that its up. It had me worried that you had gotten frustrated and closed the site or something.
If theres anything I can do to help let me know and Ill see what I can do.
