Below is the random thought titled "Why Can't I Find A Hot Welder Chick?". Be aware that these thoughts may be based on opinion, and my opinion might not agree with yours. Also, the thought below may be based on mood, time of day, or any number of other factors. Please keep this in mind.
This was the thought that went through my head as I watched the team selection on Junkyard Wars last night. One of the team members was Roseanna, a welder. In my opinion, quite attractive as well. Now, why can't I meet a hot welder chick? I mean, they must be out there otherwise Roseanna wouldn't exist. And lord knows I hang around enough people inerested in such things. So why not? Such a relationship would be ideal for me. Of course, not only would she be interested in the exact same things as I, but she cold teach me to weld as well. I currently suck at it. And let's not forget that she would come with expensive welding hardware included, so that would save me lots of money. All joking aside, it really would be nice to meet a woman like that...So few and far between.
The problem is that should I meet her, I will probably find that she already has boyfriend. Such a woman probably has the choice of any man she wishes. After all, to be interested in the same things as 90% of the guys out there must be a great advantage. Though now that I think about it, maybe not. While 90% of guys may have an interest in mechanical stuff, they probably only posess 3% of the knowledge. One wonders if they would be comfortable in a relationship where the woman is the powerhouse of "standard guy knowledge". Personally, I would enjoy having a female around with equal or greater mechanical knowledge then I.
Now I do hve a friend, let's call her "Lynn", that seems very interested in cars. We have some informal plans to hot rod a Volkswagen Beetle together (she needs a car). I can say without hesitation that talking at lengh with her about cars, engines, etc. is quite fun. Having a romantic relationship around that would be simply amazing. While it is doubtfull that it will ever happen with her (once you've been friend's for 3 years, how can anything else happen?), that does prove that they are out there if you look hard enough. Perhaps, instead of hanging around bars with my friends, I should stalk women at the auto wreckers?

| im a welder chick wannabe, but it looks bloody awful out there, i know i can put a man in his place, and i'm not easily intimidated, but what i really want is a chance to support my family, doing what i really love , without having to get married. I want the house and the car, but i want to get it myself. Trying to get apprenticeship , any helpful tips. I refuse to give up. I think the first question you should ask yourself, Aaron, is, do you want a -welder- chick, or a -car- chick. What interests you more, or does it really matter? Or is it more, you want a girl that isn't as shallow and catty as so many of the others and that is the true dilemma.
From there you can start to look. Auto shows, conventions, etc. Welding shops (whoever said that was rather brilliant, but at the same time, when I'm shopping for new gloves I'm not expecting to be picked up. I honestly cannot say what I'd feel about that situation until it happens. ...And then I'd ask myself why the fuck you were there if you don't weld. Suspicious.) Skills Canada? ...Isn
t something happening in Ontario with CWB, or already happened?
...Job fairs, even. I, myself, am out of work at the moment (welding work, anyway) and will be going to one this upcoming weekend.
Anyway, sexy trade girls exist, don't give up hope. And there are some that are not taken. Like one girl stated beforehand, and I'm sorry I've forgotten the name that was given, or else I'd properly quote, we do have to be careful not to date people we currently or have worked with. It's about keeping that respect we have to work 10 times as hard to earn.
...Anyway, I realize this is a very old post and I'm stumbling upon this a good number of years later. Maybe your feelings have changed. Maybe you started dating "Lynn." ...I'm rather curious, you should email me and let me know, haha. That's the cool thing about the internet, I suppose. | hey i'm a welder chick. I was actually on a skills team that went to the USA nationals for welding at Fab. We had a team of three WOMEN and ended up taking second in the nation. Welding chicks are out there! I'm also a Lab tech at one of the best welding schools in the country. It is true that most of the guys in the shop think of me as one of the guys even though i dont dress like one most of the time. Hot welding chicks are out there you just have to look. | Michigan is where its at. I work at one of the best welding schools in the country and was on a three person team (all women) that went to nationals for a skills usa contest this year and got second in the nation. I help teach welding and there are more welding chicks out there then most people think. I've been told that i'm attractive and i know there are quck a few hot chicks in my lab as well. You just have to keep looking. and it is true that most guys seem intimidated by female welders because oftin they are more skilled then the men. haha (Editor's notes: Nice. So an appropriate come on is "I'd like to run some beads on you with my tungsten!"? Sorry, couldn't resist. OK, sorry, but I have another. "Can you take my massive filler rod in 3F?" | I cant believe I found this site. Im a welder and I love to weld. And Im cute I would love to find me a cute welding man . I can weld anything from the crack of dawn to a broken heart. In all the shops I have worked I have always been respected and called 'strong women' I love what I do. honestly Its hard to date any guys because you want to be taken seriously. And its a huge no no to date anyone around that you met or work with through work. Its all about resect if your a chick in this for the long hall. | ||

| Hey! I live in so cal. Grew up around the trade, a few generations. I have allways been turned on by weld shops, smell, the metal, heat and of course the talented hot men doing the work. I have been working in a welding supply chain nat'l known, broke the stereotype around here,first girl in a long time,the competition has been tryin to take me too. I have met a lot of hot guys,talented of course ;) love the industry and when I get a chance to get under the hood, watch out! My testosterone soars. I love working in the industry also because I can't stand womans shallow cattiness.I get along with the guys and like getting dirty and don't care if I do something "stupid" just enjoying myself, and y-no what girls? | hey I know just how you girls feel about being single. I think women in construction are jaded. I know that after being in the trade it changes you. I just think it is my fault I cant find a man. I think it is the way I interact with men I dont work with. There is a fine line between the two and most of the tme women in a trade. dont know how to treat men other than with shop talk. | You should find some Air Force chicks that do work on the planes...some of them do aircraft welding. I am a chick, certified welder, but I am happily married to a non-welding guy. Whoever said that you should go to the welding supply places is right. Stop in there once a week or so. Welders need new lenses and gloves all the time. Good luck with your lady search....be careful that you find one that lets you retain all your masculinity. Most chicks that are in the field are pretty aggresive and rightly so. | ||

I've been doing this kind of work for almost 10 years now and though generally work for engineering firms, also have my own business on the side... i actually prefer working with the guys.. less catiness overall do you agree ladies? though i could do with a few less comments... not sure how long it will take for some men to figure out it isn't attractive.. i just want to work!! i know at least 5 other women welders i have either trained with or worked with.. it's not that uncommon anymore! kudos to the other ladies submitting comments... :)

Do you know exactly how she feels about you? ya never know. talk to her bout it, just bring it up in conversation some time and see how she feels. never know she might have never thought about things from that perspective. mabey she has/does like you more than you think, mabey she'll just shrug it off or even laugh. but u never know untill you try. If you can sustain a decent friendship for three years without any hiccups or spats, ya never know. mabey you could take things carefully to the next level?
