| This is the same exact circuit that the data sheet for the LM317 shows for a 1.2V - 25V power supply. This one is just using a center tapped transformer to feed the bridge. The circuit from the data sheet is copied except using, on the bottom it uses an LM337 as the regulator. The center tap is the DC circuit ground. Real original. (Editor's notes: How odd that it's on the datasheet, as I designed this circuit some 15 years ago for a project and have never even looked at the datasheet for these ICs.) |

| Your C1 and C3, C2 and C4, C5 and C6, and C7 and C8 are in parallel which looks like overkill. For example, you simply have a 2201 micro Farad cap made out of C1 and C3. Was this for some purpose? (Editor's notes: Filtering.) |

Anyone got a design for a +/- 48v regulated power supply. I have an Infinity Sub Woofer that suffers from hum. I have determined that the power rails are not smooth and even with extra capacitive smoothing it is not good enough. I wish to ensure that the power supply is as smoth as it can be.

| Dear sir, i am currently a student at the university of KwaZulu Natal and i've been tasked with designing a dual rail power supply of +/- 5V dc out. I have presviously built a regular dc power supply of output +5V with a source voltage of 220 VAC. I pretty much understand the first half of the power supply schematic at the top of this page but could you please explain to me as to how i could get a negative voltage out, preferably -5V. A schematic would be helpfull. Also, what is the difference in design between a "positive dc output" power supply and a "negative" one? Thank for your time. |

| Hi,
I need to design a dual power supply from a 12V back up source and deliver +/-12V to the rest of the circuitry. My concern is that I have a relay that switches this back up source ON when the main supply fails and this relay only has three contact points (n/o; c/c and com). That is, if I want to take this dual back up through the relay, I'm going to need a fourth contact point for the ground. Can u help? I hope this makes sense |
