Starting, revving and shutting down my aux bridge high compression 6 port turbo RX-7 looking into the mouth of the GT4088R turbo. Notice the easy spool and count how many seconds it takes the turbo to stop spinning after the car is shut down. Talk about turbo response! 10 PSI by 3000 RPM at less then 70% throttle.

The first few 1/4 mile runs of my GT4088R powered aux bridge RX-7 project. The engine is a stock 6 port block, streetported with aux bridgeports, custom upper intake manifold, large front mount intercooler, Microtech LT8s, 720CC primary and 1600CC secondary injectors. Still tuning in the car and only running 13 PSI so these runs were not about trying to go fast. Just some test runs to get used to the car and see how it handles on the track. Note the seriously loud wail from the GT40, lack of traction in 1st and 2nd, and the high trap speeds. Lots of potential in this car once the boost is turned up and I've spent some time on the dyno...

The first few dyno runs after some tuning on my RX-7. We did about 15 total runs that day, getting the A/F ratios decent under boost. Currently running about 11.5:1 under 13 PSI of boost from the GT4088R. The car has a 6 port high compression NA block, streetported primary and secondary ports with bridged aux ports. Large exhaust ports, custom upper intake, 720CC primary, 1600CC secondary and a Microtech LT8s. At 13 PSI, the car made 387 HP and 297 Ft-Lbs. Can't wait for 17+ PSI!

Five mid to low 13 quarter mile runs from the track a few weeks ago. The challange remains to be getting traction on an open diff and street tires. The car is a 1986 RX-7 with a 6 port turbo engine, small bridgeport, GT4088R at 13 PSI, custom exhaust and intake manifolds, Microtech LT8s and and too many other mods to list. Last dyno the car made 387 RWHP at 297 FT-LBs of torque at 13 PSI. The car makes too much power to get out of the 13s due to wheel spin, so the next upgrade is going to be a limited slip differential.

- My 1976 Mazda RX-5 Cosmo Project Car, Walkaround and Startup (YouTube)
An introduction to my 1976 Mazda RX-5 Cosmo project car. Found at a local auto wreckers and purchased just before it was about to be crushed, the car appears to be someone else's abandoned project. With only 70,500 miles on the odometer, the body is nearly mint with a solid floor and not a hint of rust underneath. The interior is basically complete, though dirty. Under the hood is a good condition 4 port 13B. Right now the car is in storage and will remain there until sometime next year (or possibly the year after that) at which point the body work will be completed, interior restored and an EFI based 13B (probably from a GSL-SE RX-7) swapped in.

Recently I found an old tape with a recorded episode of "Car and Driver Television". The subject of the "Classic Car and Driver" segment was the 1st gen Mazda RX-7. It got a favourable review and was liked by all, though some of the information presented is a bit inaccurate.

Jay Leno's 1970 Cosmo was featured in an episode of Meguiar's Car Crazy which focused on collectible Japanese cars. The car is restored and upgraded with the larger 12A engine. They claim it makes 220HP which is entirely unrealistic for a stock/street port but otherwise it's a neat setup.

A short clip from "My Classic Car" featuring a 1992/1993 Maxton Rollerskate with a 13B Mazda rotary. About 50 Maxtons were produced between 1992 and 1993, and judging by the video it appears they used an early 13B from either the RX-7 GSL-SE or the RX-3, RX-4 or RX-5 (the old style alternator is a dead givaway). The claimed output of the 13B is 240HP, which is more then a little optimistic and unrealistic unless it's running a full bridgeport which is highly unlikely based on the tiny exhaust shown (look at the tailpipe). Nevertheless it's a cool and unique car.
